State Of The Music Industry

Music Industry

The music industry in 2012 are facing many problems in the modern day and that it is because of the technology that is improving all the time. A major problem though is the death of CD's, back in the 80's and 90's CD were revolutionary however today they no one is buying CD's anymore because of ipods and mp3 players. Also shops that sell the CD's are closing down meaning less places to go buy a CD. Download is most likly the biggest problem as many people download illegally therefore the music industry is not making the money it should.

Itunes is a problem for the industry because it sells single tracks for 79p and itunes who does not reinvest that money make a 13p profit off every single sold. plus less people buy albums because they may only like a few songs where as before they would have to buy the whole album and between 10-5 pounds for a couple of songs. even though Itunes is the biggest selling online retailer there are still not enough sales to compensate the loss of CD's.

However there are one boy band that are still shifting millions of CD's Take That. Take That have an older fan base of woman who are used to buying CD's and are an older generation thus hence Take That selling so much CD's. This is an exception though because there sales alone cannot carry the whole industry.
