In the modern world of today almost every artist needs to have a video. why you ask, well, a music video makes an artist known the audience know who they are and recognize them. so it promotes the artist as well as the song. it can even be use to help sell the artist album that maybe upcoming. the video can tell us the genre the artist is working in for example a hip hop video we as the audience expect to see loads of money, stunning girls and flashy houses with expensive cars. The video also adds another dimension to the song as it gives us a visual element and create a connection with the viewer and artist.
