Question 4

When we went to the cinema for the viewing of our music video, we had amazing feedback from everyone, just to let us know how we did, we had a round of loud applause, a great amount of 'woo'ing' and a few very nice qolf whistles! We were quite impressed with the reaction we got.

Looking at previous videos and picking up on factors that could make our final music video better, it was always back to the same problem of being cut so quick that the artist couldnt get a full sentence in one shot, we changed that and made sure that the edits were much slower just because audience feedback is very helpful and we want to make a very sucessful music video that everyone can enjoy, furthermore we have also considered on taking out the dark graffiti shots, but we stuck to our instincts and we thought that it was very nice contrast between the light shots that we had, so we kept those shots in and yet everyone once again said that all locations, shots, angles were amazing!

Looking at my digipak, I had lots of feed back telling me my poster looked very professional, and they could see my poster in magazines for actual album adverts. They found everything they needed to know on the advert and digipak, they found that my digipak was very simple and it shouted 'ANGELO' (the artist) focusing it all around him, and not putting objects and graphics that were to over powering, so everyone could focus on his talent of his voice and musical abilities.
So all in all I believe my music video and ancillary products were made to a high standard as I had tried to incorperate everyones opinions into my final pieces, and tried to produce a piece that everyone could enjoy.

Formally Closing Off My Blogg

Evaluation 4

So what have I learnt from the audience feed back well the main thing both of the people said in the video was the good dancing and a good narratives plus the camera shots. One improvement they said was more movement such as in walking around or more body movement because apart from the shot of me dancing there isn't really much movement coming from the artist. So that point that julien made is something I would try to do if I had the chance to do this project again make it more interesting.
The other person I had to review my music video was Nathan and he said that the dancing was well executed and it was well die however because of the equipment we has student video wasn't going to be all that so the camera lighting was off a little so if had the chance to do this again I feel that my group will try to get the lighting right because there is little room for error with the type of camera we have got. I also learnt that a load of people enjoyed the video there was not much bad things that people had to say mostly praises therefore I feel my group done a really good job

This is Jazz talking about my digipak via blackberry messenger, as Jazz did not want to be filmed we decided we would use a different method to get her feedback. Well she notice that there was a link between the two products which is exactly what I was trying to achieve. Also she felt that the font and colours were effective which again was good to hear. However there was no real constructive criticism  that I could take on board but  we are meant to answer what we learnt from our audience feedback well I learn that Jazz really liked this design and colours and font and sometimes to one person that digipak and poster may just be perfect but to others it may be totally rubbish but this person really like it. I learnt also that following the guide lines given to us has made the target audience like the product which is the main thing.

Evaluation 4- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Here we are making ways to the cinema!!

The reaction before our music video is about to go on

And the reaction after!!

The big screen

Comments that were received :
"Great use of mise-en-scene, the different location, the different shots, wasn't just focused on one shot but the use mid shot, close up and well done on the editing"
Yes we had different shots like they said above, close up was the last minute shot we did, if we didn't have any close up i believe the video wouldn't of been successful. So am very glad we used close ups!

"It was so cute!! I loved the dancers, especially the dance, but my only problem was that it was dark out of know where, like the his standing against graffiti, I don't think that made a very good contrast because it was daylight then dark"
The graffiti background I believed worked well but we had teachers and also other peoples feedback telling us how it didn't work, but looking back to it, it does look slightly a bit odd, as its dark out of the blue. But the colour contrast does look nice but for future reference I have learnt that mixing daylight and night doesn't really go well (from peoples feedback)

"Great costume change! Great locations, and wow you actually rented a white studio just shows how dedicated you are to your media! But seriously love the white outfit the artist and the dancers were wearing went very well and I love the feel of Britshness of the location you chose to do."
We chose various location due to the influence of other artists. If we chose only two location it would be boring. Ally Pally was a last minute as well as we didn't have enough shots. If we didn't have enough shots it would of looked tacky, from this I have learnt that we should of used more shots and should of not left it for last minute.

"The scenes were too fast, like I wasn't able to see some of the scenes properly as it was going way to fast for me. Other then that I did like some of the effects that were being used."
This feedback made me look at my music video again and it was kind of true, some of the scene were going a bit to fast, some of the scene were less them three second. From this I have learnt that we should of got more feedback before we uploaded and completed it as peoples view does help very much and makes us look back at ours.

"There wasnt enough matchcuts, some shots didnt link very well, and the contrast of dark and light didnt go am talking about the graffiti background"
Alot of people have said that the contrast of daylight and dark didnt really go well, looking at this on a new light I watched my video again and it didnt really go well, and also I realised we didnt have enough match cut due to the lack of time. In future I will remember this and do matchcut if i did it again.

Here are the statistics of Angelo "do without my love" as you can see an increase of viewers since January. We have had a lot of viewers viewing our music video which is a postive thing as it may mean that viewers have enjoyed watching our music video.

One of the things I have realised is that when I recieved a lot of feedback, I realised that a lot of peopke love the idea of the dancers dancing which is actually quiet nice and entertaining. But one of the things people didnt like is the fact that there was no narrative, no story apart from the lyrics giving it away how his love struck and singing about his "loved one". Our music video didnt have a narrative if I had the chace to redo all this again I would add a narrative so the audience could be interessted or do something like "to be contiuned" as this will make the audience tuned in for the another music video. I also would of added more match cut, as one of my teacher did say to me that they would of liked to see more match cuts, this would of made the music video interestting. Also I wouldnt mix daylight with dark (light) as this doesnt really have a good effect to it. One important thing I have realised through out this process is that with out team work this video would of not been succesful, cause of excellent communication and excellent team work I believe this music video was succesfull even though there was some errors.  If I had the opportunity to do this again I would plan it more and also plan more of the shots, we did get overly excited and went straight for it but if I was given the chance I would plan more shots and include match cuts or I may include a narrative. I loved making this music video even though I didnt really enjoy editing but I loved doing the digi pack and also blogging! as keeping my blog up to date. This fabulous chance I was given to create a music video was just amazing. Audeince feedback was very useful and getting everyones reaction after coming out of the cinema. it makes you think about peoples opinion and thinking how I could of changed it. Some people gave me postive and some negative which I took in to account. One thing I do regret is me and my team could of made enough rough cut and uploaded it for more feedback, as I believe feedback helps a lot as its from different peoples and opinion. I have never had the chance to actually make a music video and now I have I enjoyed it so much! I believe it was succesful and I absouletly loved watching it on the big screen and getting so much feedback! Getting the feedback made me watch my music various time and made me realised there has been some errors like quick shots, too many transitions and also the colour contrast. But the location and the artist and the dancers worked really welll. We all had ups and down but we got through it as a team and without team work like I said would of not been succesful. Overall I believe my music video was succesful and I loved it and also I loved my group!

Evaluation 2

Evaluation- Question 4.

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Using vimeo we uploaded our music videos, which others can like rate & comment. This gave us a good idea of others opinions & what they thought we could have improved. Having gone to the cinema & seen our classmates reactions gave us a clear idea of what they thought.
Facebook, a social networking site was used to show my advert and get peoples opinions and what they thought of it. Positive things as well as improvements. Charlene quoted 'love how you stuck to the do's and don't of using 3 colours and no more than two fonts.' Having the poster posted on everyone's personal 'wall' allows me to quickly to a lot of views and comments. So far a lot of women have commented on my advert positively and loved it!

Before watching our music videos at the cinema!

Analysis.

This comment made me realise how professional and clear the colour scheme is, having stuck to 3 colours, 2 fonts, and the same effect on the photos. Having followed Goodwin's theory we stuck to disjunction as the dancers have nothing to do with the artist, and even though it is a song of romance, Samarge isn't specifically singing to a particular girl, attracting our target audience of young females.

We decided to add fades after each and every shot so that it flowed and the transitions were clean. Even though most conventional music videos dont include dissolves or fades all the time we wanted to push the boundaries and be original. As our genre is soft r&b we wanted our artist to portray a loving and vulnerable side to him, rather than having the typical 'sexy' guy which every girl drools over. However in order to attract the audience, we had Samarge's top unbuttoned to show his abs, something which was inspired by most popular r&b male artists in the 21st century, such as: usher, trey songz, chris brown, neyo and many more.

This comment is positively important as all ancillary products must link together, colours, pictures and fonts as we are creating a specific brand, and product name. Having the poster and digipak have related shots in our music video allows the audience to recognise it and makes it memorable.

What have i learnt?

3D Mock Up

I have created a 3D mock up, as I take graphics, I am very aware of how the process is taken, so I decided to take this advantage and create a 3D mock up, to understand and present how exactly my Digipak would work. Here is the 3D mock up, presented below.

Final Poster/Advertisment

After researching about album advertisements, I have created my final advertisement, and this is what I have produced.

Evaluation 3- How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning & evaluation stages?

We used a lot of media technology that worked well with our piece.
Technological websites like:

Myspace
facebook
Vimeo
Youtube
Wiki

Photoshop: Me and my peers were introduced to Photoshop to edit my ancillary work all which was done on this vital tool. This tool helped me edit all my pictures (my CD and my poster) for example I added the font from Photoshop and also how I should display my pictures. The kind of colour I wanted to use was all done on Photoshop

Final cut pro: As we all know final cut pro was vital all my editing process was done here. Adding the transitions and the effect was done on this tool. Without final cut there wouldn’t really be a music video piece!

The apple Mac and also handbrake: As I don’t have a Mac at home, I had to come in college and use the Mac that was provided. The Mac had all the tools that were essential for our music video, blogging, researching, taking screen shots, using Photoshop etc. Majority of my work was done on the Mac. Handbrake was used to import my final music video piece.

All sorts of cameras: Throughout the process (filming the music video, doing the anamatic, ancillary work) camera was used. Without the cameras there would be no film or anything! We used focus lens on the camera and also we used the tripod so the music video wasn’t static.

Viola: Viola is a programme that allows you to take screen shots of images, label them write over them etc. I used viola to present my work (the screen shots that I take)

iShowu: Is another programme on the Mac that allows you to record and take pictures of what your doing at the same time!

Quark Xpress: allowed me to do all my ancillary work

Rollip: Rollip is a programme that I personally had to research for, this allowed me to edit my pictures as you can see on my poster and also CD

Here I have used Google to research my artist. Google was used for various research like images, different artists, the style they use etc.

My media A2 coursework is about blogging! The things I have done! I have blogged about everything I did during my media video and digipack.

Facebook was also used to see other aritsts! As now facebook is a popular social networking

Youtube was used to research on other artists. We chose Nathan as our artist!

Viola was used to import pictures by taking screen shots and also writing around them, I used Viola alot
Rollip is a website that I searched for and used my picture (CD cover) to give it that effect as you can see below

We used through out my music video research. Facebok was used to get feedback from the audience, Vimeo was used to view my music video, youtube was used to research on other music artist music video, for example researching om Nathan music video and also other artists. The main research engine I used was Google and also Blogger. Google was used to research artists CD cover and what kind of images  I shall be protraying and also the kind of audience Hip hop is mainly aimed for. Blogger is the main website I used as it is part of my coursework project. Many of these technological websites have had a massive impact on my music video, the research that I have been doing.

The production of my music video we used brand mew state of the art was:
spotlight
phones
videocameras
memory card

Social networking is  a way of promoting artists. All these sites that I used was for in depth research.

create a gif

For our music video we used final cut pro; we used various of transitions: here is an example of the effect of the transition that was used also a video of how it worked in the music video.

As you can see below is screen shots of images from my music video; The reason why I screen shot is so the transition is showen, the effects that I used (ghostly effect). These effects worked really well.
For the editing I used different tranistions to give it that  quick pace editing and effect. The capacity of time and speed. It was fast pace editing.

Evaluation- Question 3.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning & evaluation stages?

During the production of my music video we used brand new state of the art:
-memory cards
-videocameras
-tripod
-spotlights
-batteries
-phones/ipods

Editing:

-final cut pro
-photoshop
-quark
-fontcase
-quicktime

Internet for research purposes:
-youtube
-rollip
-prezzie
-vimeo
-facebook

For example: facebook was used in order to gain opinions and improvements from people and our target audience. Social networks are an easy way of getting comments and feedback.

Using quark for text and layout for my practice digipak (to the right) allowed me to add writing and adjust the placement of the images. Unlike photoshop there are more fonts to choose from, and you can change the structure of the images.

Final cut pro is a programme which allowed us to edit our music video, lay down all our clips, whether they're long or short, then we watched them all and decided which ones we wanted to use. Within final cut pro we shortened clips, overlapped them, added dissolve effects, fade effects, colour changes and saving the document to quicktime, then handbraking it and uploading to the blog.

create a gif
Within photoshop i used this for design and image manipulation inorder to create my advert poster and digipak panels. I used the wand tool to erase sections of the image, cropped images, manipulated them, resized and rotated them. This helped me create a professional look to my ancillary products.

We made an animatic at the beginning of the
process with all our shot ideas. We planned each shot, location and angle type, even though throughout the process we changed a few things. Here is the link to our animatic:
