filming again!

Here me, Samerge, Eleni and Karen are filming again!

Practising!

Before we went to the white studio to make our actual music video eleni and karen pracitsed their routine!

Small problem with framing!

After Mary our other media teacher watched our rough cut she noticed that all our shots from the white room location had a small black frame around it, due to the fact that it got converted into a different format, therefore Mickey our technician showed me the steps to taking it away.

First i had to double click on all the white room shots one by one and went to the motion bar, clicked the scale number from 100 to 104. This was something very easy to do in my free period lessons however very long. But now all shots are the same framing and not half with black frames and half without. I also experimented with filters and speed and drop shadow just to see what shots would look like.

Close ups.

We had to film for once again another time during our 3 hour media lesson due to the fact that we did not have enough close ups of our main artist which is needed. Therefore, we went to the park near our college called Owens Field, found a background with trees and leaves which fitted with our ally pally location and filmed another two base tracks. Samarge on that day wore a beige jacket which we told him to wear :) however it didn't really matter because they were close ups so you could hardly see the costume. Close ups and extreme close ups are essential because it makes it more intimate and personal with the audience, every single artist show their beauty and confidence through close ups, so we didn't want to loose marks, so had to film. Only took two hours to edit and one to film.

Finished!

Final rough cut analysis.

On the 23rd of november I made some final touches to our rough cut. this was because we over edited it so there were way too many overlapped shots so we couldn't focus on our artist properly. Most shots were too quick and only stayed on for about 1 or 2 seconds when it should be 4 or 3 seconds so that made a big difference between our first rough cut and our second one.

We decided to end the music video in our dark location when we filmed in the rain at alexandra palace. The lighting is beautiful and the contrast between the white room location and this outside location i extreme yet effective. All the fades we put in was deliberate because it fitted with the song and made everything very fluid and flowing. Once we applied it to some shots we decided it looked better on all shots.

The 'bridge' of the song we used all shots when the artist says 'what, where, when, how' as these are the key words, samarge successfully points to his fingers to the beat at each location so jumping from shot to shot he's doing the same thing, but in a different location and costume. This is a long shot at ally pally to show his whole outfit and the scenery behind him.

We decided to overlap our shots because our song is nice and slow (slightly faster than slow) so we wanted a mellow and cool effect. As i edited like this last year in as i decided it would work well, if i expanded on the skills i already know, so overlapping some dance shots with our artists proved to look impressive!

At this location we thought we wouldn't be able to use these shots as they were in pouring rain and samarge was so cold he could hardly move his mouth so that effected lip syncing. However the lighting was so nicely lit and our artist did such a good job that the shots turned out really good!
On our first media lesson (3 hours) we decided to film once again to get close ups of samarge because we didn't want to loose marks due to lack of close ups. We filmed in 2 hour and edited in 2 hours. Done.

Big well done to my group!

Our dancers in our group.

In my group I was very forunate to have two experiened dancers who do dancer A-level! Eleni and Karen were excellent dancers and starred in our music video and did a stunning performance of dancing.

Just like in beyonce video 'single ladies' they were in a black and white room dancing just like in our rented white studio eleni and karen did there dance. Instead of three dancers it was just both of them. We did get few movenments from the single ladies video.
Shaikra and beyonce video also influenced us about their dance routines

In some part of beyonce and lady gaga video we took the idea of having same costume on

Close ups.

Learning more about close ups in other artists music video. Close up gives us the audience to look at the artist more in depth. In the video 'stero hearts' there are some close ups that worked very well. Before we took our close up of Samerge we looked at music video to give us ideas about them.

In Jessie J video 'who you are' there are lots of close up and extreme close up that worked very well and got some ideas about close up from this video
